PMI日本支部女性コミュニティ 第43回 定例会 (2026.9.1) レポート

秋の気配を感じ始めた9月1日、第43回定例会を開催しました。

今回は、メインテーマ「壁を突破した経験」とサブテーマ「興味のある芸術」について意見交換を行いました。

メインテーマ「壁を突破した経験」では多様な意見がでましたが、特に以下の3点について議論が深まりました。

１．英語への苦手意識を乗り越えた経験

英語に苦手意識があったものの、「正しく話すこと」より 「コミュニケーションを取ること」が重要 と気づいたことで、会話の糸口をつかめるようになったという意見がありました。これに関して、

• フランス語・イタリア語なまりの英語を聞くと、自分のつたない英語でも十分通じると感じられ自信につながる

• 日本語では否定の否定などで分かりづらい話し方をする人でも、英語になると内容が整理されて理解しやすくなる

といった興味深い視点も共有されました。

２．タイムマネジメントの壁を突破した経験

若い頃は100点を目指して深夜まで残業したりすることを繰り返していたが、出産後はタイムマネジメントを重視するようになったという意見もありました。これに関連して、「昇進の壁」や「ライフイベントを見据えたキャリア選択」、「管理職に進むか、テクニカルを極めるか悩むタイミングがある」といった経験を振り返りながら議論が進みました。

また、

• 20代の頃は管理職は大変だと感じていた

• キャリアの途中で、若手の台頭や体力面でテクニカルの道に限界を感じた

• できる人が専念できるようサポートしたいと考え、管理職を選んだ

という実体験も共有され、キャリア形成に関する考え方の変化が印象的でした。

３．「壁を突破しない」という選択

自分が進む先を阻む壁ならば突破する意味があるが、社内政治など時間の浪費につながる壁もあるため、状況によっては、「回避する」や「壁沿いを歩く」という選択も必要だという意見がありました。

サブテーマ「興味のある芸術」では、以下のように多様なジャンルが紹介され、どれも魅力的でした。

１．オペラ歌手「イノセント・マスク」

非常にハイテンションで従来のオペラ歌手のイメージとは異なります。YouTubeで歌声を聞き好きになり、オペラ鑑賞はハードルが高いものの、来日したら是非鑑賞したいとの声がありました。

２．クラシックピアノの聞き比べ

推しのピアニストを見つけてセットリストを作る楽しみや、同じ曲を異なる演奏者で聞き比べる面白さが紹介されました。ソロの超絶技巧も魅力だが、協奏曲での楽器の「かけあい」の奥深さも魅力とのことでした。

３．意外と面白い狂言

太郎冠者と次郎冠者による漫才のようなドタバタ劇が魅力で。棒縛、身替座禅、茸（く​さびら）​など代表的な演目が分かりやすく、楽しめるとの紹介がありました。

４．沢村先生の新作

女性コミュニティと親交の深い、書家の沢村先生が「すみだ五彩の芸術祭」に２つのプログラムで展示を行うと紹介がありました。柳嶋妙見山法性寺にて11月に開催される『沢村澄子の書 2014-2026』で新作をぜひ鑑賞したいとの声や、『おしえて！だいじなモノ・コト プロジェクト』もSNSと連動した企画で興味深いとの意見がありました。

On 1 September, as the first signs of autumn began to appear, we held our 43rd regular meeting.

This time, we exchanged views on the main theme, “Experiences of Breaking Through Barriers,” and the sub-theme, “Arts of Interest.”

A variety of opinions were shared regarding the main theme, “Experiences of Breaking Through Barriers” but the discussion delved particularly deeply into the following three points.

1. Experiences of Overcoming a Fear of English

One participant shared that, despite initially feeling uncomfortable with English, they realized that “communicating” was more important than “speaking correctly,” which helped them find a way to start conversations.

In this regard,

• Hearing English spoken with a French or Italian accent made them feel that even their own limited English was sufficient to get their point across, which boosted their confidence.

• Even people who speak in a way that is hard to understand in Japanese—such as using double negatives—tend to organize their thoughts more clearly in English, making them easier to understand.

These interesting perspectives were also shared.

2. Overcoming Time Management Challenges

Participants shared experiences of how, while they used to repeatedly work late into the night in pursuit of perfection earlier in their careers, they shifted their focus to time management after giving birth. The discussion also touched upon related experiences, such as facing barriers to promotion, making career choices with major life events in mind, and navigating the dilemma of whether to pursue a management track or specialize in technical expertise.

In addition,

• In my 20s, I felt that management roles were very demanding

• Mid-career, I felt limited in the technical field due to the rise of younger talent and physical limitations

• I chose a management role because I wanted to support talented individuals so they could focus on their work

These real-life experiences were shared, and the shift in mindset regarding career development was striking.

3. The Choice to “Not Break Through the Wall”

While there is value in breaking through walls that block one’s path, there are also walls—such as office politics—that lead to a waste of time. Therefore, depending on the situation, it was suggested that choices such as “avoiding” or “walking along the wall” may also be necessary.

Under the sub-theme “Arts of Interest,” a diverse range of genres was introduced as follows, and each one was captivating.

1. Opera Singer “Innocent Mask”

He has a very high-energy style that differs from the traditional image of an opera singer. Some participants said they heard his singing on YouTube and became fans; while attending an opera performance might seem daunting, they expressed a strong desire to see him perform if he ever visits Japan.

2. Comparing Classical Piano Performances

Participants shared the joy of finding their favorite pianists and creating playlists, as well as the fun of comparing the same piece performed by different artists. While the virtuosic solo techniques are appealing, they also noted the depth of “sound creation” in concertos as another major attraction.

3. Kyogen: Surprisingly Entertaining

The appeal lies in the slapstick comedy—much like a manzai comedy routine—performed by Taro Kanja and Jiro Kanja. The segment introduced representative plays such as “Bōshibari,” “Migaesazen,” and “Kusabira” in an easy-to-understand and enjoyable way.

4. Calligrapher Sawamura's new work

It was announced that Sawamura, a calligrapher with close ties to the women's community, would be exhibiting in two programs at the Sumida Gosai Art Festival. There were many people who said they would like to see her new works at the ``Sumiko Sawamura Calligraphy 2014-2026'' held at Yanagijima Myokenzan Hoshoji Temple in November, and ``Teach me!'' There was also an opinion that the ``Important Things Project'' was interesting as it was a project linked to SNS.
